The funeral for RCMP Const. David Wynn, 42, who was shot while confronting suspect in a casino on Jan. 19, is this afternoon in Alberta.
The officer was shot in the head last weekend at an area casino and died in hospital Wednesday morning. Auxiliary Const. Derek Bond was also shot, but is recovering from his injuries, the Metro newspaper says.
The man responsible for the shooting, Shawn Rehn was found dead several hours later.
More than 2,000 RCMP officers, emergency first responders, and police officers are expected to attend the ceremony. Prime Minister Stephen Harper is also expected to attend.
Spectators are encouraged to wear red clothing to support the fellow members of the RCMP, CTV reports.
