Canadian Tennis star Eugenie Bouchard had an upset on her record in Belgium Thursday after losing to Germany’s Mona Barthel in the second round of the Diamond Games match. Eugenie Bouchard is a top seed, making this upset a surprise to fans and players alike.
Barthel capsized Bouchard 4-6, 6-1, 6-1, beating her 2 sets to 1. Barthel is the seventh seed. Bouchard has now lost her last two matches, one against Maria Sharapova at the Australian Open quarterfinal. Bouchard skipped Canada’s Fed Cup last weekend in Quebec to concentrate on the Diamond Games, but unfortunately she is now out.
