Education Minister Liz Sandals revealed details of Ontario’s reformed sexual education curriculum this morning.
The curriculum will cover everything from introducing body parts to first graders, moving to lessons of same-sex marriage and puberty to third and fourth graders, while grades 6 to 8 will cover topics of masturbation, gender expression, contraception, pregnancy and STDs.
The Liberal government shied away from updating the curriculum in 2010 because of protests from religious groups and have been met by critics of the current reform as well.
Many parents have complained that they were not informed by the government before introducing this new curriculum, which Premiere Kathleen Wynne said will not be changed before implementation.
