British soul singer, Sam Smith stole Sunday’s 57th Grammy Award show after winning four major categories. The 22-year-old new comer was crowned best new artist and record of the year for his hit song “Stay with me”
“Before I made this record, I was doing everything to try and get my music heard,” Smith said. “I tried to lose weight and I was making awful music and it was only until that I started to be myself that the music started to flow and people started to listen.”
While his wins were no shock to viewers and audience, Beck had a surprise win for his album “Morning Phase”, winning album of the year, beating out Pharrell, Ed Sheeran and Beyoncé.
One person in the audience who was outraged by the surprise win was Kanye West.
As Beck proceeded to accept his award upon the stage, Kanye jokingly tried to relive his famous 2007 MTV music video award moment to defend Beyoncé after her loss.
Beyoncé didn’t leave the Grammys empty handed though. She and Pharrell Williams won three awards each, and showcased some of the most anticipated performances of the night.
