Just like the Magic School Bus, the 188 Kipling South truly is a magical ride.

Let it be known that on this day, the express bus to Humber College Lakeshore Campus embarked on its maiden voyage 7 a.m.

The five-stop bus route from Kipling Station to the school was part of the six new express routes proposed by Toronto Mayor John Tory. The route has stops on major intersections along Kipling Ave. including the Queensway and Evans Avenue, and serves Humber College, Lakeshore Collegiate Institute, and Father John Redmond Catholic High School.

The express bus runs Monday to Friday between 7 A.M. to 7 P.M. and will operate under the TTC’s frequent bus service rules. Under the rule, buses will arrive every 10 minutes or less.

During peak hours students wait in agony to board what sometimes could be a standing room only 44 Lakeshore. Humber College student Katie Dewling, said, “It is so much faster and I’m very happy about it! It only took me five minutes; the 44 would’ve taken longer.”

Mason Chance welcomed the news saying it’s a great addition to the usually slow route.

He added, “I literally won’t ever be late again, this is great!”

The express bus cuts about half of the travel time between the station to the campus. However, most of the ride times recorded today does not count high school students boarding the new bus route as schools are closed for Easter Monday.
