Humber’s varsity sports are competing in provincial and national championships across the country and have all ready won some hardware.

The Humber Badminton team came home with 3 medals from the CCAA National championship. Olivia Lei, Ryan Chow and Adam Dong, won gold medals in women’s singles, and mens doubles, while Jesse Assing and Phuthita Nilyok earned silver in mixed doubles.

The women’s volleyball team won a bronze in the CCAA,in Charlottetown P.E.I this weekend. It was their first medal ever in the CCAA’s.

The women and men’s basketball teams both won the OCAA Provincial Titles, and will now head to the CCAA Championships. The women’s team defeated the Mohawk Mountaineers on March 5 at Niagara College, while the mens team beat the Mohawk Mountaineers at Humber North on March 5.

Women’s basketball head coach Ajay Sharma says the team is ready for nationals.

“Our preparations have been good and our mindset is right where it needs to be. We know it won’t be easy but we’ve prepared for that all year long,” Sharma says,

The women and men’s basketball teams will both play in the quarter finals as the girls head to Windsor, Ont. from March 17-19 for the CCAA National Championships, while the men head to Fort McMurray, Alta. for the CCAA championships March 17-19.

Closer to home, the women’s and men’s soccer teams compete in Ancaster on March 18 for the OCAA Championships.
