Has it ever crossed your mind why some foods are always paired together? Is it their flavours? Their textures? Who knows, but one thing’s for sure: some foods are just meant to be together.

Here’s a list of the top ten food pairs, courtesy of Food Network:

1. Peanut butter and jelly

So obvious, but still so perfect.

2. Bacon and eggs

Is there anything better than the smell of bacon and eggs with your coffee in the morning?

3. Grilled cheese and tomato soup

Although I’m not a huge fan of tomatoes, (yes, I’m an Italian who doesn’t like tomatoes. Shocking) I do enjoy the occasional tomato soup with crispy grilled cheese. Mmm, tasty!

4. Burger and fries

This combo is my favourite go-to meal when I’m on the go. It’s the perfect mix of salty and savoury without going overboard.

5. Tomatoes and mozzarella

Okay, I know I hate tomatoes, but tomato sauce and mozzarella are my one true love. I’m Italian, so this is expected.

6. Spaghetti and meatballs with veal and ricotta

Hell to the yes! Italian food is always close to my heart.

7. Butter and corn

I have childhood memories of my family and me barbequing corn and slathering on lots of butter. We dug our teeth in, and it was so juicy and tasty. Ah, memories.

8. Pancakes and maple syrup

The Canadian girl in me is screaming for pancakes right now. They are the sweetest breakfast with maple syrup, especially at the maple farm.

9. Cinnamon and sugar

Sweet, warm, and homey. This is the perfect pair for the Christmas holidays.

10. Pasta and cheese

Uh… you mean mac and cheese? I’m always up for a cheesy dish. There is no better way to eat than a meal with cheese.

Well, there you have it. The best of the best paired with the best. I don’t know about you, but I’m getting hungry just thinking about these foods. Time to get cooking!
