Gardiner lost the puck during a face off with Colarado Avalanche player, Carl Soderberg, who finished the game with his first career hat trick.
Igor Ozhiganov, Kasperi Kapanen and Mitch Marner scored the Leafs’ 3 goals.
Last night also marked the return of goalie Frederik Andersen who has been out for 8 games due to a groin injury.
This is the fifth loss out of seven for the Leafs as they were defeated 6-3.
