The Toronto Maple Leafs are on home ice tonight to take on the Edmonton Oilers.
The Leafs have won their last two games against the Montreal Canadiens and the Buffalo Sabres, maintaining their third place spot in the Atlantic Division. Centre Auston Matthews made Leafs history Monday by scoring his 30th goal of the season, being the first player in the franchise’s history to do so three seasons in a row.
The game will see Oilers captain Connor McDavid return from a two-game suspension. The NHL’s third leading goal scorer was suspended after an illegal head check to New York Islanders defenceman Nick Leddy last week.
If the Leafs win tonight they will be just one point behind their division rival, the Boston Bruins.
Leafs defenceman Jake Gardiner will sit out tonight’s game due to an injury. The puck drops at 7 p.m.
