Toronto approves 2019 budget

The Toronto City Council voted 21-4 today in favour of the 2019 budget. This new budget includes a 2.55 per cent increase on property tax.
The new budget also includes $126-Million for the TTC which will be allocated to the downtown relief line. Also included is $30-Million for the Toronto Police, some of which will go towards hiring another 300 officers.
Other increases include a water rate increase of three per cent, a garbage rate increase of 2.2 per cent and a rise in TTC fares of 10 cents per ride.
