The Ontario Special Investigations Unit is investigating a police shooting in Mississauga on Tuesday night that has left one man in critical condition in hospital. 

The shooting took place near the area of Southampton Drive and Eglinton Avenue West near Winston Churchill Boulevard. 

Peel Police say the man crashed his vehicle into a garage after being shot by police. 

Const. Sarah Patten told CBC undercover Peel officers were investigating a vehicle for suspected drug activity around 7:30 p.m.Tuesday night.

When police approached the vehicle, the driver drove at the officers. 

Officers then fired at the vehicle. The driver crashed into a townhouse garage, Patten told CBC.
