New one-shot Covid vaccine appears safe and effective, company says

Johnson & Johnson’s one-shot Covid-19 vaccine appears to be safe and effective after trials.

The company’s submitted documents say the vaccine was 66 per cent effective in preventing Covid-19 in a global trial. It also found that the shot helped prevent asymptomatic infections. It is amongst the first vaccines to require only one dose to fully inoculate.

A panel of independent experts will meet on Friday, Feb. 26 to decide whether to recommend the drug for emergency use to the U.S Food and Drug Administration.
