Before Santa Claus heads out east for Toronto’s infamous Santa Claus Parade next week, the man in red has already began kicking off his procession in Regina over the weekend.
Back for its 38th year, Regina’s annual Santa Claus Parade brought the holidays to the city’s streets through floats, dancers, furry friends, and local organizations.
Hundreds of people gathered along Albert Street North to celebrate the beloved tradition.
Junior Dixon says it was fun seeing all of the people participate in the parade.
“I loved seeing all of the people singing and dancing to Christmas music,” he said. “It really made everyone get into the holiday spirit which has been hard without snow.”
Parade goers also had the chance to meet Mr. Claus himself for a personal greeting and photo.
Shekinah Dixon says her favourite part of the parade was getting to see Santa Claus.
“It was so fun to talk to Santa and tell him about my Christmas list,” she said. “He told me that if I am good for my parents he will pass my list along to the elves.”
The parade started at noon at Wheaton Kia and travelled along Albert Street North, ending at Northgate Mall.
