The Blue Jays tried out their players on Monday for an intrasquad game that broke weeks of monotonous training, with the Greys beating the Blues 1-0.
Pitcher R.A. Dickey threw to Canadian catcher Russell Martin for the first time, pitching a scoreless first inning and working around a two-out walk to infielder Maicer Izturis.
Dickey did not speak with the media on Monday, but has said before that with Martin’s athletic ability and willingness to learn to catch his knuckleball, the team should be in for better game results.
The game preps the Jays for their first Grapefruit League opener against the Pittsburgh Pirates, taking place Tuesday afternoon.
