New Cardiff City signing Emiliano Sala was on board a single turbine aircraft that lost contact with local air traffic control over the English Channel last night.

Signed for £18 million from Nantes FC in France, Cardiff was expecting Sala to arrive sometime early Tuesday morning. Cardiff City Chairman Mehmet Dalman released a statement saying “we are awaiting confirmation before we can say anything further. We are very concerned for the safety of Emiliano Sala.”
Over 1,000 square miles have been searched by 5 aircrafts. One of the men leading the search told Sky Sports that the chances of finding Sala are ‘reducing rapidly.’ No trace of the plane has been found. Chief officer of Channel Islands Air Search, John Fitzgerald states that the chances of finding anyone alive are dropping every second.

Sala and the pilot were the only people on board the aircraft.
