Kartikeyee Gurav, 20, moved to Ottawa in 2017 for his degree in Computer Science. He holds an international student status at Carleton University, expecting to graduate in 2021.

Gurav lived in Baroda, Gujarat, India for 18 years of his life. After graduating from high school, he couldn’t be more clear as to what he wants to do.

Computer science has always been his passion. After much consideration, he decided to pursue his dreams in Canada.

One of the factors that influenced this decision was a comparatively lower education cost, flexible labor hours and access to scholarship funds for international students. The competition for education is also more relaxed in Canada as compared to complex admission procedures in India.

Gurav has been in Ottawa for two years now. He works as a part-time advisor at TD Bank and is a member of one of the university’s fraternities. He is very active in the local communities and their culture.

Despite the legal restrictions on international students to vote in the federal elections, he is very invested in the country’s politics. He likes to keep himself updated as he might stay in the country after his graduation. He wants to know what the future upholds.
