Heavy metal band Metallica is donating $131,000 for relief of California wildfires. The group, composed of headliner James Hetfield, posted a Twitter thread expressing sadness after three years of California wildfires and encouraged others to donate to the cause.
Sadly, for the third year in a row, communities we have called home throughout the state of California are again experiencing the tragedy left in the wake of wildfires.

Metallica donated to the All Within My Hands foundations, which is started by the group and named after their 2003 song.
The group says the money donated will be split evenly between the Sonoma County Resilience Fund and the Wildfire Relief Fund, both resources that heavily support victims affected by the fires.
According to the Metallica website, the All Within My Hands foundation works to help and enrich the lives of members of the communities who have supported the band for years.
Metallica isn’t new to giving back. During the band’s 2019 European Tour, it gave $1.5 million to charity organizations such as the Freezone Mannheim, a German-based youth aid group.
Reaction to the band’s donations has been positive.
Metallica donating to Cali wildfire recovery funds means so much to me.. I just know the money will go to good use!
