Stories about former Toronto Maple Leafs coach Mike Babcock have come out following his firing.

Former NHL defender Mark Fraser stepped up to defend Mike Commodore – one of Babcock’s former players under the Anaheim Ducks – on Twitter after Commodore tore into Babcock for his horrible treatment of players.

Fraser says Babcock repeatedly used his power as coach to turn players against one another, lied to his players, and was overall just a “bad guy.”

The Toronto Sun reports a particularly heinous incident whenBabcock asked rookie Mitch Marner to list the players on his team from hardest working to lead-hard-working, then gave that list to the lowest ranking players on the list. This report has been backed up by Ian Tulloch, host of the Leafs Geeks Podcast.

Marner says – despite his controversial tactics – his relationship with Babcock recovered by the end of their time together.
