‘Tis the season to read holiday romance

The holiday season means different things to many people but to book lovers it means diving into holiday romance.

Jessica Stephens, known on TikTok or more specifically BookTok as JessAfterDark, is getting ready to start her holiday season with seasonally-inspired novels.

She says her book club’s theme in December is holiday books.

“What we actually do to pick out our read for the week is I have everyone list their recommendations and each week I will put out a poll and have everyone vote from the list,” Stephens says.

If you are looking for a holiday romance recommendation, Stephens says that Tangled in Tinsel by Trilina Pucci was one of the first holiday romance novels she has read.

For audiobook listeners, she recommends My Favorite Holidate by Lauren Blakely.

“I love the corny Christmas farm-type books. The more Hallmark the better,” she says.

Maddie Lovegrove, a bookworm, says she’s excited to start divulging in holiday books and the first book she’s reading is The Christmas Tree Fram by Laurie Gilmore.
“Once I start reading a holiday romance book, to me that means Christmas is just around the corner,” says Lovegrove.

She says that although she hasn’t seen snow, reading about it in the books is enough for her.

“As much as I would love to have a white Christmas this year, it doesn’t seem like we’ll get that so I’m more than content reading about being snowed in than actually experiencing that, Lovegrove says.

To immerse herself in the holiday season, she says reading a book in bed with a candle that smells like Christmas will have to do for now.
