Students from the digital business management bachelor of commerce program showcased their creative podcast visions ranging from student life to networking tips at the DigiPod Network launch on Dec.4.

DigiPod is a podcast network created by students in the Digital Business Management BComm program at Humber Polytechnic, led by professor and program coordinator Hanadi Alnawab.

Videographer of the ‘Degree to Dollars’ podcast Anton Lewis says what excites him the most about the podcast is learning how to apply class knowledge in the ‘real world’.

Each episode will bring insights from industry leaders like Michallia Marks, a digital business management graduate from Humber, on how to overcome challenges within school and succeed after graduation.

Besides Lewis, the on-screen and off-screen creative leads for the ‘Degree to Dollars’ podcast are : Matteo Fedele (host), Sunny Chopra (creative director), and Farheen Shaikh (marketing specialist).

“Degree to Dollars” is among the 10 podcasts projects created throughout the fall, others include: ‘Universi-Tea’, ‘Humber’s Survival Guide’, ‘Fur The Love of Pets’, ‘Unfiltered Abroad’, ‘The Superstitions Playbook’, ‘Cultural Crossroads’, ‘Remote Lockdown’, Cents and Sensibility’, and ‘ Is It me or Everyone is Offended’.

Interviewer and promotion specialist for the ‘ Humber’s Survival Guide’ podcast Jenny Nguyen, says their podcast allows students to hear helpful advice from former students.

Each episode features valuable insights from former Humber students, involved in fields ranging from hospitality to management, who share their hard-earned wisdom and key lessons they wish they’d known as students.

Other team members of the ‘Humber’s Survival Guide’ podcast include: Nhi Nguyen (planning and promotion), Nisha Solanki (talent booking), Dong Anh Tran (producer and main editor), and Carla Pineda (interviewer and promotion).

Product manager of the ‘Universi-Tea’ podcast Celeste Fernandes says the idea behind their podcast originated from Humber’s decision to shift from a college to a polytechnic.

“It came about during class when discussing this shift, and we decided it would be a great way to dig deeper into this subject and how the change would impact former, current, and future students. We interviewed the President of Humber Polytechnic Ann Marie Vaughan, and it was super interesting to hear her take on why the change was made,” she says.

The ‘Universi-Tea’ podcast dives into everything about the post-secondary education world from industrial trends to alumni success stories.

President Vaughan shared in their first episode how the branding change was long overdue, because Humber’s focus on applied skills training and range of credentials have aligned to what a polytechnic is since the 60s.

The change was announced through a media release on Aug. 29.

Besides Fernandes, other team members of the ‘Universi-Tea’ podcast include: Amaan Sayed (host), Haris Khan (host), Pasindu Jayasundara (product manager), and Syed Muhammad Saeed (product manager).

Fernandes says their podcast has potential to continue post-graduation.

“This industry is such, that it always keeps evolving and growing. Our hope is to diversify our portfolio and interview a lot of people from diverse backgrounds, and expand more,” she says.
