The man charged in Toronto’s fifth homicide of the year is set to appear in court Friday, Feb. 5.

Toronto Police arrested 20-year-old Frederick Leon last Thursday in connection with a fatal shooting that took place in Etobicoke.

Tevin James, 22, was shot in the abdomen early Tuesday morning in a basement apartment near Lake Shore Boulevard West and 11th Street, between Kipling and Islington Avenues.

James died hours later at the hospital.

Leon made his first appearance at Old City Hall court last Friday by video.

Toronto Police charged Leon with second-degree murder. Leon also faces other charges including aggravated assault, robbery, 28 different firearms and weapons-related charges, as well as five drug charges.
