Canadian tennis players are moving on to the second round of the Australian Open.
Thornhill’s Milos Raonic beat an injured Nick Kyrgios 6-4 7-6(5) 6-4 and Eugenie Bouchard beat wildcard Peng Shuai of China 6-2 6-1.
Meanwhile, 18-year-old Bianca Andreescu, of Mississauga won against United States’ Whitney Osuigwe and Denis Shapovalov, 19 also won in his match with Pablo Andujar of Spain.
The tournament continues tomorrow with all four athletes returning to the courts for another round of competition.
Tennis fans can look forward to an exciting match as Bouchard goes head to head against seven-time Australian Open champion Serena Williams.
