Emma is an aspiring teacher who also has a passion for writing. In her time in the journalism degree program at Humber, she has enjoyed writing stories covering local community events to stories talking about mental health advocacy and religion – and even a couple of weeks getting to report on the weather. Her thesis project, From homeschooling to special education classrooms: A snapshot of alternative learning in Ontario, was inspired by her interest in alternative ways of learning and her own experience being homeschooled. Through interviews with parents and others involved in the education system, this story hopes to examine how education in Ontario can look in many ways for different families and different children.
