Josh Welsh is an actor and journalist who is excited to be graduating from Humber after pursuing an education in the School of Media and Creative Arts over the course of eight incredible years! Born and raised in Cornwall, Ont., Josh found his creative outlet through writing and drama. He also coordinated morning announcements at his high school where he was often complimented with having a radio voice.

After graduating high school and taking a year off, Josh moved to Toronto in 2014 where he studied in Humber’s Acting for Film and Television Program. He completed the program in 2016, earning a college diploma. Wanting to pursue his passion for film, he took part in the Film and Media Production program but after two years, decided to pursue his inner passion for that “radio voice” and telling “real life” stories and joined the Bachelor of Journalism program. In his second year, he found a new love for podcasting. Since 2020, Josh has been creating a series of podcasts for assignments titled Just Joshin’ Around.

For his final thesis project, he decided to bridge the beginning of his college journey with the end and interview former acting instructors from the acting program and professionals in the Canadian Film and Television industry. His curiosity about seeing film production trucks lining up Toronto streets and spotting familiar Toronto landmarks in films and television inspired this initiative. In his podcast, he explores the differences between the U.S. and Canadian film industry, why Canadian content isn’t recognized domestically, among a few other topics.

In his spare time, he loves to watch movies, listen to 80s music, cook and travel. He hopes to become a talk show host or become the next eTalk reporter (or both!)
