The First Year Experience (FYE) program at Humber College hosted an alumni networking event at the Lakeshore Campus on Friday, Nov. 24, providing current Humber students with the opportunity to learn from accomplished graduates.

The event took place in the G building and featured distinguished Humber alumni who have excelled in their respective fields. Among the alumni present were Alexandra Amanzai, a Primary Healthcare Nurse Practitioner and Nursing Clinical teacher, and Anjani Rathee, a Policy Analyst.

Dhrumi Vaghela, a current Humber student attending the event, expressed her excitement about witnessing the success stories of individuals from her course post-graduation.

“It was, to be honest, a really great experience and also very motivating to see Humber alumni and how they have grown in their professional careers. I feel it is always a good opportunity to connect with alumni as they know your journey and the path you’re on,” said Vaghela.

She shared an insightful piece of advice from one of the guest speakers: “There will be 100 people around you, and you have to find just one genuine connection. Just never hesitate to approach people and always believe in yourself.”

Vaghela told Skedline she found this wisdom particularly motivating during the stressful time of the year, especially when seeking internships.

Riya Sarda, a senior peer mentor with FYE responsible for events, emphasized the program’s commitment to ensuring that every student has a positive experience at Humber and beyond.

“It is great to host so many fun events,” said Sarda, highlighting the variety of activities organized by FYE, including Diwali celebrations, networking events, and more.
